About

Tradition since 2010

The Taunus Film Fest is an international film festival with a history: since 2010, it has brought together filmmakers from all over the world in Oberursel and the Taunus region every August. What began as a small short film festival is today an important meeting point for local, national, and international film culture.

Five Days Film & Network

The festival offers five days packed with curated short and feature films, workshops, networking events, and a vibrant supporting program. The best films will be awarded a total of 3,500 Euros. The focus is on togetherness: industry professionals, filmmakers, and film fans meet here to exchange ideas, learn from each other, and discover new perspectives together. The festival is a lively place for dialogue – film culture is actively lived here.

Spotlight Films – a different theme in focus each year

In addition to the regular competition categories, each year we present the Spotlight Awards – special accolades for films that stand out within a thematic category chosen by the festival. This category changes annually and focuses on a current or socially relevant theme each time – for example, food, integration, or the environment.

Spotlight Theme 2026

In Motion – On the Road

A world in motion leaves the individual in imbalance, in unrest. Where is the new place for me? Leader or follower? Village or metropolis? Retreat into the private or escape forward? Within the spotlight theme, the Taunus Film Festival awards the film that embodies this search and gives it a face. This search for the individual's role in times of war anxiety and artificial intelligence is by no means limited to the classic road movie. It is also reflected in many films that address the changed meaning and acceptance of social rules and roles, and in which the characters seek a final chance for liberation.

Strongly networked

The Taunus Filmfest is a member of the Hessian Film Festivals Association and a founding member of the AG Filmfestival – and actively engages in film culture and exchange.
