Code of conduct
1. preamble
Filmfest Oberursel is committed to creating a respectful and inclusive environment for all participants*, regardless of gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, religion, disability or other personal characteristics. We strive to create a festival that is characterized by diversity and where everyone feels comfortable and safe.
2. chosen legal form and purpose of the festival
The legal form chosen to represent the Filmfest Oberursel (hereinafter referred to as "the Filmfest") (van Ons GmbH) acts solely as a legal entity for the purposes of accounting and formal processing and has no intention of deriving any financial benefit from the event. The primary objective is to offer artists a place to meet and actively contribute to the promotion of film culture. Filmmakers should be offered a forum for exchange and opinion-forming, as well as space for creative dialog and inspiring discussions. With this clear demarcation, the Oberursel Film Festival distances itself from purely commercial enterprises, events in the context of trade fairs and purely competitive events and film tours.
3. respect and courtesy
All participants, including visitors, filmmakers, staff and volunteers, are asked to treat each other with respect and courtesy. Any form of discrimination, harassment or offense will not be tolerated.
4 Diversity and inclusion
The Oberursel Film Festival promotes diversity and inclusion, both in its internal structures and in its external presentation. We value the diversity of perspectives and opinions and encourage everyone to contribute to an inclusive film community.
5. fairness and equal treatment
We are committed to fairness and equal treatment. Every participant is treated fairly, regardless of their position or role in the festival. Discrimination, unequal treatment or preferential treatment will not be tolerated.
The film festival sees itself as a fair employer that strives to pay all employees appropriately for their work. Currently, the festival still relies on the support of volunteers. We greatly appreciate the dedicated work and commitment of our volunteer team members and are continuously working to create improved conditions in the long term to enable appropriate remuneration. We would like to thank everyone who volunteers for the festival and contributes to its successful implementation.

Juries should be diverse and independent.
7. dealing with filmmakers and submission modalities
Communication with the filmmakers is fair and transparent. In particular, our submission modalities are clear and transparent; this refers in particular, but not exclusively, to the awarding of prizes. The information is permanently published on our website. The festival encourages filmmakers to participate in the festival. However, submission alone does not automatically obligate a filmmaker to participate. We value transparency and open and fair communication. Depending on its own resources, the festival endeavors to enable financially disadvantaged filmmakers to participate in the festival.
The festival's submission fees should be reasonable. The festival undertakes to view all films submitted. If a film is not accepted, the festival will inform the submitter.
The film festival undertakes to provide representatives of the selected films with free accreditation. Depending on the importance and possibilities of the festival, the assumption of travel and accommodation costs or appropriate screening fees are optional.
8. performance rights and use of image and film material
The transferred screening rights refer to the projection within the framework of the respective festival edition as well as any subsequent events during the year that are closely related to it. In the latter case, the festival will inform the filmmaker(s) in accordance with the submission conditions. Beyond this, no release of the film (e.g. TV, Internet, screenings of any kind etc.) will be linked to participation in the festival, unless the rights holders have expressly agreed to this. The festival reserves the right to use image and film material for press and advertising purposes of the films to be shown and screened (e.g. stills on the festival website to announce the festival program, photos and video recordings on the day of the event for press articles, etc.). In addition to promoting the festival, this is also intended to promote the filmmakers. The number of screenings in the festival program must be clarified with the rights holders as part of the invitation.
The festival will show the film in the format agreed with the rights holders in good time. The festival guarantees the best possible projection and will not show any unfinished versions or versions marked as viewing material.
9. awarding of prizes
The festival will hand out the prizes to the winners as soon as possible and pay them the prize money in the amount published in the regulations in the catalog or on the homepage.
10. security at the venue
The safety of all participants is our top priority. We expect everyone to behave responsibly and contribute to creating a safe environment.
11. compliance with the festival guidelines
All participants are required to respect and adhere to the festival guidelines and rules. These include standards of behavior during events, screenings and in all festival areas.
12. cooperation and teamwork
The Oberursel Film Festival promotes cooperation and teamwork. All participants are encouraged to work together constructively and contribute to the positive atmosphere of the festival.
13. reporting of problems
If anyone witnesses misconduct or violations of this Code of Conduct, they are encouraged to report it immediately to the festival organizers. Complaints will be treated confidentially and action will be taken to respond appropriately to reported incidents.
14 Consent
By participating in Filmfest Oberursel, all participants agree to respect and abide by this Code of Conduct. The festival reserves the right to take measures, including the exclusion of participants who violate this code.
