Happiness Is a Wild Beast

Laudation:

Happiness - and the search for it - is indeed a wild beast.

In HAPPINESS IS A WILD BEAST, a week unfolds in the lives of four individuals in a small French village where two siblings perished with their boat a few years ago.

Jeanne lives in seclusion in mourning for her drowned son.
Man. Tom lives with his grandfather and wants to move to the city to become an actor. A stranger comes to the village. And at night, a supposed wolf roams the area.

The paths of the four characters interweave in a calm, almost surreal way,
supported by an atmospheric landscape of towering cliffs by the sea, pine forests, winding paths under the full moon. What stood still begins to move, and slowly each of them begins to change his or her life for the better.
its own way.

HAPPINESS IS A WILD BEAST tells a story of loss and absence with humor and poetry. Original ideas are never an end in themselves but flow organically into the narrative. BERTRAND GUERRY succeeds in creating a quiet fable that shows that happiness is something that only everyone can define or find for themselves.

Congratulations to Bertrand Guerry and his team and thank you for taking us on this wild journey!

Channel Bibi

Laudation:

Food is family, and family is food. It's a dish that needs love, effort and a few inevitable burns to get just right.

It starts perfect, gets messy, but always brings us together. Channel Bibi is a heartfelt celebration of the culture and connection of an Indian immigrant family, and today we honor the brilliant team that brought this story to life.

This film captures the beauty and tension of family bonds - across generations, traditions and the wild world of social media. When Bibi's cooking goes viral through her granddaughter's video, an unexpected and powerful bond is formed that inspires fans worldwide.

But the movie doesn't shy away from showing the cost of fame by revealing how it tests Bibi's relationships with her daughter and granddaughter. It reminds us that family, regardless of our culture, is worth the effort.

Dear Rajan Gill and your team: Your vision, your skill and your honesty have created something truly special.

Congratulations on this great movie - may it inspire us all to cherish the bonds that really matter!

Dieter

Laudation:

A person's identity is woven from the memories of an entire lifetime.

Dementia doesn't just take a part of you - it can wipe you out completely - and your loved ones have to experience this loss. Rolf Broennimann's animated film 'Dieter' tells this process from the perspective of an artist in the advanced stages of dementia, his twin brother Dieter.

Dieter was a stone sculptor who was no longer able to finish anything during his illness. And who then began to paint. In his workroom, with his watercolors and his sculptures, we immerse ourselves in his fragmented reality with his artistic creations, memories and intrusions of external reality.

The film enables us to empathize with the disintegration, the loss of memory and being lost in a very impressive way. 'Dieter' by Rolf Broennimann is not only a delicate, beautiful cinematic work of art, but also an extraordinary and important perspective on dementia - and a loving document of the memory of the deceased brother.

Congratulations to Rolf Broennimann and his team for this deeply moving work, which reminds us to cherish the memories that shape us.
